| Camas Valley, Oregon (lower deck) | This is Camas Valley on the lower deck. The basic scenery and painted backdrop are in, but there is no vegetation or trees on the scenery yet. Even so, I think the scene is quite attractive! You can clearly see the shadowbox look here. The layout shelf is about 12" wide in this location, which sounds rather narrow -- but as you can see, it looks pretty good! I was a bit apprehensive at first on this layout because many areas have benchwork in the 6" to 12" wide range. It enabled me to fit everything in, but how would it look? As it turns out, high (55" - 70" off the floor) narrow benchwork looks quite good! I would not hesitate to build another layout with such narrow benchwork. Just to the left of this photo is a more finished scene with trees, if you want to get more of an idea how this scene will eventually look once it has trees. |
| Roseburg yard (upper deck) | When you first walk into the railroad room and step up onto the raised floor, here's what you see: Roseburg yard. There's not a lot of scenery here yet either, but this photo shows well how the scene looks. Again, you see the shadowbox look. Also, here's a closeup photo of the yard. And here's another shot of the yard from a different angle -- this photo clearly shows how I have mounted the command station of my new EasyDCC system. Finally, here's a neat closeup of my model of SP4408, an SD9E. |
| King Creek bridge (lower deck) |
Like most of the photos on this web site, this photo was taken using only available light, and this photo accurately represents how the scene really looks to the eye. Here are a few more closeup shots of this same bridge scene: here, here, here, and here. |
